About The Park:

Banksia Park is an on leash dog exercise area that is located off Templestowe Road in Bulleen.  This park is for use all year round but is only open during the day from 8.30am to 5pm (open till 8pm during daylight saving).  The park has many walking tracks and a few interesting stops including a wetlands area and Aboriginal sites.  This park is a great place for dog walking as the area is quite large and the walking tracks are well marked.

How to get there:

Banksia Park is located in Bulleen on Melways Map 32 D4 and is accessible by both public transport and by private car.  From Flinders Street Station catch the Lilydale Train from Platform 2 and get off at Box Hill Station.  Once at Box Hill catch the 291 Bus towards Heidelberg and get off at the corner of Banksia and Manningham Roads. Banksia Park is located 800 meters walk from the bus stop down Manningham Road.

Families travelling by car can park in the reserve car park off Templestowe Road - check signs for parking restrictions.

Facilities:

Parking available in reserve car park off Templestowe Road.  Please check signage before leaving your car.

Dog poo bins are located near the car park and Toilet Area - no plastic bags are available so please remember to take your own.

Toilets are located near the car park off Templestowe Road - toilets have disabled access

BBQs are located in the picnic areas along the Yarra River

Banksia Park has picnic tables and picnic shelters 

Walking paths - located throughout the park and follow the Yarra River through the park - cycling is permitted in this park

Banksia Park has a visitors centre as well as Aboriginal sites, wetlands area and a Japanese Cherry Tree Grove

Closest Bus stop to Banksia Park is located on the corner of Banksia and Manningham Roads.

Banksia Park is open daily from 8.30am to 5pm (open till 8pm during daylight saving).  Pedestrians have 24 hour access to the park but some areas are not well lit for night time walks. 

Banksia Park is a fantastic area that is dog friendly - please ensure that you have your dog on a leash and pick up after them so that everyone can enjoy this park and it stays on our dog friendly listing.

Please ensure that dogs are kept away from BBQ areas and children's play equipment - this is a requirement in most council areas in Victoria. 

When using on leash dog parks remember that not everyone likes to interact with dogs.  Please ensure that dogs are kept on a leash at all times in these parks and that you remember to pick up after your dog.

Remember to take plenty of fresh water for your dogs as they will be thirsty after a long walk.
