Council Area: About The Reserve: Martin Reserve is an off leash dog exercise area that is located off Essex Street in West Footscray. This reserve is for use all year round with no time or day restrictions. The reserve is fully fenced and is accessible by public transport and by car. Martin Reserve is a great place for dogs as the area is quite large and there is plenty of room for the dogs to run around. The reserve is currently undergoing redevelopment with the removal of the adjoining tennis courts and inclusion of this area as part of the dog off leash area. The park is able to be used during the redevelopment work. How to get there: Martin Reserve is located in West Footscray on Melways Map 41 H3 and is accessible by both public transport and by private car. From Flinders Street Station catch the Williamstown Train from platform 10 to Footscray Railway Station. Once at Footscray catch the 216 Caroline Springs Bus and get off at the corner of Khartoum Street and Essex Street. Martin Reserve is located across the street. Families travelling by car can park next to the reserve in Blandford Street. Parking is also available in the streets surrounding Martin Reserve - check signs for parking restrictions. ![]() Facilities: Parking available on Blandford Street and in surrounding residential streets. Please check signage before leaving your car. Martin Reserve is a fully fenced off leash area - great for dogs who tend to wander! Dog poo bins are located at each entrance / exit to the reserve - plastic bags are available also available There are park benches located in Martin Reserve with in the fenced area There are two sporting ovals across Blandford Street - This area permits dogs on leash only. Closest Bus stop to Martin Reserve is located on the corner of Khartoum Street and Essex Street Extra Information / Off Leash Walk Sheet Download: Martin Reserve has an informal meeting of local dogs and owners around 5pm on week days When using an off leash dog park it is important that you still have voice control over your dog and in the event that you need to call him/her back that they listen and obey your commands. When using off leash dog parks remember that not everyone has well trained and socialized dogs. Consider talking to other dog owners in the park before allowing dogs to play together. Remember to take plenty of fresh water for your dogs as they will be thirsty after all that running around.
