About The Gardens:

The Royal Botanical Gardens Melbourne is an on leash dog area that is located off Birdwood Avenue in South Yarra.  The gardens are open daily from 7.30am to 8.30pm (November to March) and 7.30am to 5.30pm (April to October).  The gardens have walking tracks, city views, cafes and a fantastic array of bird life that have made the gardens their home.  The Royal Botanical Gardens Melbourne is one of Melbourne's top dog walking areas.

How to get there:

The Royal Botanical Gardens Melbourne are located in South Yarra on Melways Map 2G B12 and are accessible by both public transport and by private car.  From Flinders Street Station the gardens are a short walk down St Kilda road.  The Free Tourist bus also stops at the main entrance to The Royal Botanical Gardens Melbourne on Birdwood Avenue.

Families travelling by car can park near the gardens on Birdwood Avenue or on Alexandra Avenue.  Parking is also available in the streets surrounding The Royal Botanical Gardens Melbourne - check signs for parking restrictions.

Parking available on Birdwood Avenue, Alexandra Avenue and in surrounding residential streets.  Please check signage before leaving your car.

Dog poo bins are located throughout the gardens - no plastic bags are available so please remember to take your own.

Toilets are located throughout the park along the walking tracks and in picnic areas

Walking paths - located throughout the park with signage and map boards

Cafes - Tea Rooms are located in the centre of the gardens, The Observatory Cafe is located at the main entrance on Birdwood Avenue (both are dog friendly)

Drinking Water - water fountains are located throughout the park
