About The Reserve: Thompson Street Reserve is an off leash dog exercise area that is located off Thompson Street in Avondale Heights. This reserve is for use all year round with no time or day restrictions. Thompson Street Reserve is a great place for dogs as the area is quite large and there is plenty of room for the dogs to run around. This reserve is also a fantastic place to come for a walk along the Maribyrnong River. How to get there: Thompson Street Reserve is located in Avondale Heights on Melways Map 27 C5 and is accessible by both public transport and by private car. From Flinders Street Station catch the Werribee Train from platform 5 to Footscray Train Station. Once in Footscray catch the 406 Bus towards Keilor East and get off at the corner of Westminster Drive and Military Road. Thompson Street Reserve is located a short 600 meter walk down Rogerson Street. Families travelling by car can park near the reserve on Thompson Street. Parking is also available in the streets surrounding the reserve - check signs for parking restrictions.
Facilities: Parking available near the reserve in Thompson Street and in surrounding residential streets. Please check signage before leaving your car. Thompson Street reserve has limited facilities - please take all rubbish with you when leaving Closest Bus stop to Thompson Street Reserve is located on the corner of Westminster Drive and Military Road Extra Information / Off Leash Walk Sheet Download: Thompson Street Reserve has many trails and cycling paths that connect this reserve to other reserve areas along the Maribyrnong River. These walking and cycling trails are on leash areas for dogs.When using an off leash dog park it is important that you still have voice control over your dog and in the event that you need to call him/her back that they listen and obey your commands. When using off leash dog parks remember that not everyone has well trained and socialized dogs. Consider talking to other dog owners in the park before allowing dogs to play together.
