About The Beach: Sandringham Beach is an off leash dog beach that has some restrictions during the summer but is a great place to take dogs. Restrictions are in place on Sandringham Beach with dogs allowed in sand an rock areas on a leash between November 1 and March 31 after 7.30pm and before 10am. Dogs are prohibited from all other areas during these dates. Dogs are allowed off leash in all sand and rock areas from April 1 to October 31. How to get there: Sandringham Beach is located in Sandringham on Melways Map 76 H12 to 85 H1 and is accessible by both public transport and by private car. From Flinders street station catch the Sandringham Train from Platform 13 to Sandringham Train Station. Once in Sandringham catch the 923 Bus towards Southland Shopping Centre and get off at the Jennings Street and Royal Avenue stop. The Off Leash section of Sandringham Beach is a short 100 meter walk from the bus stop down Royal Avenue. Families travelling by car can park across from the beach on Royal Avenue. Parking is also available in the streets surrounding the beach - check signs for parking restrictions.
Facilities: Parking available across from the beach on Royal Avenue and in surrounding residential streets. Please check signage before leaving your car especially in the summer months. Dog Poo Bins - located near the toilets north and south of the off leash area - please take plastic bags as there may not be any available Toilets - located to the north and south of the off leash area of Sandringham Beach Walking trails - there is are a few walking trails at the back of Sandringham Beach and along the foreshore Foreshore area - this area is on leash for dogs Closest Bus Stop to Sandringham Beach is located at Jennings Street and Royal Avenue Extra Information / Beach Sheet Download: Sandringham Beach has quite a few restrictions during the summer but is a great beach to visit with your dog Remember to wash or rinse off your dog after a visit to the beach as they have been swimming in salt water and rolling in the sand which may cause skin irritations. Remember to take plenty of fresh water for your dogs as they will swallow a lot of sea water while swimming and can become dehydrated from the increased intake of salt.
