General Information:

The Local government Area of Bland is located on the northern fringes of the Riverina, New South Wales. Bland Shire Council covers an area of 8,482 square kilometers and supports a population of 6,343 residents (2006 Census).  Today Bland Shire is a blossoming rural economy built around sheep, cattle, wheat and other crop varieties. In recent times, West Wyalong has also experienced significant developments away from agriculture. Barrick Gold has established themselves as a major industrial client for our region, committing to the $220 million Cowal Gold Project.  This mining project is now in the final construction phase and actual gold production has just recently begun.

Dog Registration Requirements:
 
Bland Shire Council requires all dogs over the age of 12 weeks to be registered and microchiped.  Once the dog is registered with the council a unique tag is issued to the owner to be placed on the dogs collar. This tag aids in the prompt return of dogs that may be found wandering.
 
Number of Dogs Permitted Per House hold:
 
Bland Shire Council does not have a limit to the number of dogs per household on non farming land providing that the dogs are not a nuisance through inadequate containment, noise and bad hygiene.

Animal Release Requirements:
  • All dogs and cats over the age of 3 months must be registered with Council prior to release.
  • Owner identification is required at release.
  • Fines will be imposed for unregistered animals and animals at large.
