Dog Beaches Information - Wollongong
  nsw_region_-_sydney_surrounds

Wollongong has a great variety of off and on leash dog beaches that can be used by dog owners all year round.  Many of the beach areas have great facilites and provide a great social experience for both dog and owner.  Remember when visiting any beach or off leash area there are a few things that you need to do, such as:

  • Always clean up after your dog.  Many council areas around New South Wales provide dog poo bins and plastic bags for dog owners to do this.  It is always a good idea to still take your own supply of 2 or 3 plastic bags as some areas do not always have plastic bags available all of the time.

  • Check the signs for the beach areas and obey the council directions when using the beach.  Some beach areas are only available during certain times and days of the week - be sure to follow these restrictions as local councils are quick to fine pople who break the rules.  Cheeky Dog is as uptodate as possible, but if you are unsure whether a beach is off or on leash contact your council to check.

  • Dogs off leash must still be under effective control at all times.  Most councils do not allow restricted breeds to be exercised off leash in any of these public areas.

  • Dogs off leash must be kept at least 50 meters from childrens play equipment areas and public picnic areas.
