General Information:
The Alpine Shire Council covers an area just over 5000 square
kilometers and is located to the north east of Melbourne about 300 kms
from the city. A majority of the land within the shire is public land
and includes parts of the Mount Buffalo National Park and also the
Alpine National Park.

Dog Registration Requirements:
Alpine Shire Council requires all dogs over the age of 3 months to be
registered. Once the dog is registered with the council a unique tag
is issued to the owner to be placed on the dogs collar. This tag aids
in the prompt return of dogs that may be found wandering.
Number of Dogs Permitted Per House hold:
Alpine Shire Council allows a maximum number of 2 dogs per household on non farming land.
