General Information:
Ararat Rural City Council is located west of Melbourne on the Western
Hwy approximatly 200 kilometers from the city. The areas that make up
Ararat Rural City are vital to much of Victoria's primary industry such
as wine production, merino wool production and cropping. Ararat Rural
City also has fantastic tourist destinations such as the Grampians
Ranges, Pyrenees Ranges and Lake Bolac.

Dog Registration Requirements:
Ararat Rural City Council requires all dogs over the age of 3 months to be
registered. Once the dog is registered with the council a unique tag
is issued to the owner to be placed on the dogs collar. This tag aids
in the prompt return of dogs that may be found wandering.
Number of Dogs Permitted Per House hold:
Ararat Rural City Council allows a maximum number of 2 dogs per household on non farming land.
