General Information:
The Bass Coast Shire Council area is one of Victoria's larger council
areas at approximatly 860 square kilometers and is located to the south
east of Melbourne 130 kilometers from the city. This area is
predominatly coastal but the shire also contains fantastic hinterland
which support the cattle and dairy farming of the area. The Bass Coast
Shire area is one of only a handful of areas in Victoria that has
agriculture and tourism as there major industries.

Dog Registration Requirements:
Bass Coast Shire Council requires all dogs over the age of 3 months to be
registered. Once the dog is registered with the council a unique tag
is issued to the owner to be placed on the dogs collar. This tag aids
in the prompt return of dogs that may be found wandering.
Number of Dogs Permitted Per House hold:
Bass Coast Shire Council allows a maximum number of 2 dogs per household on non farming land.

Pound Contact Details:
Bass Coast Shire Council will
has directed that dogs in the Council's pound can only be collected by
visiting Council's Wonthaggi office at 76 McBride Avenue, Wonthaggi. After fees are paid, a local laws officer will give directions to the pound where the animal will be released to the owner.
