Brimbank City Council covers an area just over 120 square kilometers and is the second most populated council area in Melbourne.  Located 20 minutes west of the central business district Brimbank City Council is a huge growth area for residential property development but the council also contains one of Melbournes largest industrial areas and is home to Sunshine Hospital and the St Albans campus of the Victorian University of Technology.

Dog Registration Requirements:
 
Brimbank City Council requires all dogs over the age of 3 months to be registered.  Once the dog is registered with the council a unique tag is issued to the owner to be placed on the dogs collar.   This tag aids in the prompt return of dogs that may be found wandering.

Brimbank City Council allows a maximum number of 2 dogs per household on non farming land.

Animal Release Requirements:
  • All dogs and cats over the age of 3 months must be registered with Council prior to release.
  • Owner identification is required at release.
  • Fines will be imposed for unregistered animals and animals at large.
