Greater Bendigo City Council is located to the north west of Melbourne approximatly 150 kilometers from the city.  The council area is quite large covering just under 3000 square kilometers and is an important bendigo.gif regional centre servicing the towns and rural areas of the Loddon region.

Dog Registration Requirements:
 
Greater Bendigo City Council requires all dogs over the age of 3 months to be registered.  Once the dog is registered with the council a unique tag is issued to the owner to be placed on the dogs collar.   This tag aids in the prompt return of dogs that may be found wandering.

Greater Bendigo City Council allows a maximum number of 2 dogs per household on non farming land.

Animal Release Requirements:
  • $12 per day or part thereof plus a $50 release fee.
  • All dogs and cats over the age of 3 months must be registered with Council prior to release.
  • Owner identification is required at release.
  • Fines will be imposed for unregistered animals and animals at large.
