Greater Geelong City Council covers an area of just over 1200 square kilometers and is Victoria's second largest city.  The city area contains a mix of suburban, rural and urban areas with a coastline that includes Corio Bay and the Bellarine Peninsula.  Geelong and surrounding areas have a strong manufacturing base but the area is also a major residential and commercial hub.

Dog Registration Requirements:
 
Greater Geelong City Council requires all dogs over the age of 3 months to be registered.  Once the dog is registered with the council a unique tag is issued to the owner to be placed on the dogs collar.   This tag aids in the prompt return of dogs that may be found wandering.
 
Number of Dogs Permitted Per House hold:
 
Greater Geelong City Council allows a maximum number of 2 dogs per household on non farming land.

Animal Release Requirements:
  • All dogs and cats over the age of 3 months must be registered with Council prior to release.
