General Information:
Hindmarsh Shire Council covers an area just under 1500 square
kilometers and is located 340 kilometers north west of Melbourne. The
council area is in the middle of the Wimmera-Mallee region and is the
gateway to tourist areas such as the Little Desert National Park, Big
Desert National Park and the Wimmera River. The local economy of
Hindmarsh relies heavily on tourism and broadacre farming such as grain
and sheep.

Dog Registration Requirements:
Hindmarsh Shire Council requires all dogs over the age of 3 months to be
registered. Once the dog is registered with the council a unique tag
is issued to the owner to be placed on the dogs collar. This tag aids
in the prompt return of dogs that may be found wandering.
Number of Dogs Permitted Per House hold:
Hindmarsh Shire Council allows a maximum number of 2 dogs per household on non farming land.
