Hobsons Bay City Council covers an area just over 60 square kilometers and is located south west of Melbourne along the shores of Port Phillip Bay.  The council contains important industrial areas as well as important environmental areas such as coastal wetlands, native grasslands and several creek systems.  The local industry for the Hobsons Bay City Council area is mainly the chemical and petroleum industry with some manufacturing.

Dog Registration Requirements:
 
Hobsons Bay City Council requires all dogs over the age of 3 months to be registered.  Once the dog is registered with the council a unique tag is issued to the owner to be placed on the dogs collar.  This tag aids in the prompt return of dogs that may be found wandering.
