Maroondah City Council covers an area just over 60 square kilometers and is located 15 kilometers to the east of Melbourne.  The council area is a mix of residential, semi rural and industrial and contains two of Melbourns's main business areas - Ringwood and Croydon.  Maroondah City Council area has a local economy that is primarily based on retail earnings.

Dog Registration Requirements:
 
Maroondah City Council requires all dogs over the age of 3 months to be registered.  Once the dog is registered with the council a unique tag is issued to the owner to be placed on the dogs collar. This tag aids in the prompt return of dogs that may be found wandering.
