Nillumbik Shire Council covers an area just over 400 square kilometers
and is located on Victorias north east approximatly 25 kilometers from
Melbourne. This shire area is predominatly urban but contains
significant natural areas such as King Lake National Park and the Yarra
River which forms the southern booundary of this area. The local

Dog Registration Requirements:
Nillumbik Shire Council requires all dogs over the age of 3 months to be
registered. Once the dog is registered with the council a unique tag
is issued to the owner to be placed on the dogs collar. This tag aids
in the prompt return of dogs that may be found wandering.
Number of Dogs Permitted Per House hold:
Nillumbik Shire Council allows a maximum number of 2 dogs per household on non farming land.
