Southern Grampians Shire Council covers an area just over 6600 square kilometers and is located in Victorias west.  This shire is one of Victorias largest sheep and wool growing areas contributing over 20 percent of the wool produced in Australia.  Southern Grampians Shire Council has the township of Hamilton as the main area for health and education in the region.

Dog Registration Requirements:
 
Southern Grampians Shire Council requires all dogs over the age of 3 months to be registered.  Once the dog is registered with the council a unique tag is issued to the owner to be placed on the dogs collar. This tag aids in the prompt return of dogs that may be found wandering.
 
Number of Dogs Permitted Per House hold:
 
Southern Grampians Shire Council allows a maximum number of 2 dogs per household on non farming land.

Animal Release Requirements:
  • All dogs and cats over the age of 3 months must be registered with Council prior to release.
