Wangaratta Rural City Council covers an area 3600 square kilometers and is located in Victorias north east.  The council area is predominatly rural land with the largest urban area located in Wangaratta itself.  The local economy of this area is based primarily on manufacturing and commercial activities but in recent times there has also been a focus on grape and wine production.

Dog Registration Requirements:
 
Wangaratta Rural City Council requires all dogs over the age of 3 months to be registered.  Once the dog is registered with the council a unique tag is issued to the owner to be placed on the dogs collar. This tag aids in the prompt return of dogs that may be found wandering.
