Whitehorse City Council covers an area just over 60 square kilometers and is located approximatly 15 kilometers to the east of Melbourne.  This area is made up of a mix of residential and commercial areas and also includes some important educational institutions such as Box Hill TAFE and Deakin University.

Dog Registration Requirements:
 
Whitehorse City Council requires all dogs over the age of 3 months to be registered.  Once the dog is registered with the council a unique tag is issued to the owner to be placed on the dogs collar. This tag aids in the prompt return of dogs that may be found wandering.

Whitehorse City Council allows a maximum number of 2 dogs per household.

Animal Release Requirements:
  • All dogs and cats over the age of 3 months must be registered with Council prior to release.
  • Owner identification is required at release.
  • Fines will be imposed for unregistered animals and animals at large.
