Yarra City Council covers an area just over 20 square kilometers and is located in the inner east of Melbourne.  The council area is a mix of residential, retail and commercial and the council area is home to St Vincents Hospital and Yarra Bend Park which is a great place to take dogs.  The local economy of Yarra City Council is based mainly on manufacturing activities.

Dog Registration Requirements:
 
Yarra City Council requires all dogs over the age of 3 months to be registered.  Once the dog is registered with the council a unique tag is issued to the owner to be placed on the dogs collar. This tag aids in the prompt return of dogs that may be found wandering.

Animal Release Requirements:
  • All dogs and cats over the age of 3 months must be registered with Council prior to release.
  • Owner identification is required at release.
  • Fines will be imposed for unregistered animals and animals at large.
